Hello from Cuzco
I'm now in Cuzco and have had a bit of a nap this afternoon. I'm 3,400 metres above sea level here, and as such altitude sickness tends to kick in. I don't seem to have suffered so far, so I'm hoping I'll be fine. I have been out for a walk around town and had something to eat and drink, so I think I'm doing ok.
I got into Lima at half past midnight last night, and got taken to the hotel where I got some room service (nice Argentinian beef with fried shrimp and garlic in a black peppercorn sauce) and then got about 3 hours sleep before I had to be up to go to the airport this morning. The flight over here was really quick - only an hour, so I was into the hotel by about 1:30 or so.
Lima was rather misty and grey, and as I had been led to expect, there were vast shanty town areas with every second business a mechanic or a newspaper vendor with handpainted "Chiclets" signs on them. Vehicles consisted of minivan taxis and buses, and small three-wheeler vehicles.
Here are some photos:

Autumn was coming fast in Canada
