In Seattle in Maximilien's with Karen
Hello from Karen's laptop in a nice little French restaurant in the Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle. Just had a great meal of seafood chowder and moules marinieres.
Today's flights were pretty exhausting, but I guess they're practice for the ones coming up soon when I'll be on a plane for more than a day at a time. I stayed up with my sister most of the night, and then we dozed on the sofas from about 2 am until 4 when I had to set off for the airport. Got there, checked in and then had to go through American immigration. It turned out I had an expired visa waiver from 2001 which I was supposed to have surrendered when I left that trip. Gave the immigration guy a bit of a chuckle and he told me off for that.
Flew via Chicago where there was a 1 hour layover. The first plane was empty - only 30 of us. From Chicago it was fairly full, but I slept most of the way. Got in and got a big 4x4 rental car - I'll take a pic and post it another day. Drove up to downtown Seattle and wandered around the Pike Place Market until it was about time to meet Karen at the restaurant. Came in and had a drink and Karen turned up shortly thereafter. Had a very nice meal of Seafood chowder and Moules marinieres with a creamy roquefort sauce.
Going to head up to Vancouver soon.
Pics from the last day or two:
Me in the restaurant just now

Lots of hanging peppers at one of the stalls
My nephew Ty
Lots of assorted seafood in the market

A curious squirrel in Toronto
