I had a very nice day today in Vancouver. Slept in and I think I caught up with the sleep I missed, then took a taxi over to the Granville Island Market. It's been about 5 years since I was last there but very little has changed over there. It's probably one of the best fresh produce markets in the world. Everything from flowers, vegetables, fish, and meats to freshly baked bread and all sorts of food. It's pretty big, and even has a kids' market to keep youngsters amused.

I headed straight for the fishing charters and the one I knew took individuals to make up a small group (so bringing down the cost of 5 hours' fishing from about $450 for an individual to $150ish). I walked in and coincidentally someone had called a few hours before wanting to find a third person to go out tomorrow. I gave my details to the guy who runs the place, and upon giving my surname he mentioned that he knew someone else with my surname. Turns out he was in the same class at school as my uncle who I'll be staying with in 2 days over in Revelstoke. Weird.

Anyway, he recommended a few good places to eat down at the market, and after a good wander around I settled on one and had some nice jamaican jerk chicken and seafood washed down with some nice Canadian beer.

I took one of the dinky ferries across from Granville Island Market to the Aquatic Centre and then walked along to English bay along the shore. From there I wandered back towards Granville Street and then back along Granville Street to the hotel. Went for a swim this afternoon and had a bit of a rest. Now I'm just about to go out to get some food. Fishing is early tomorrow - 7:30 am so I'm going to try and get an early night tonight.

Here are a few photos from today:
