Arrived in Christchurch

It was a fairly uneventful drive down after getting on the ferry from Wellington to Picton, although there was a bit of a mix up at Wellington in that Avis told me the wrong place to drop the car off...I had left myself plenty of time fortunately and it was ok in the end, but it was a bit hairy for a while. The ferry crossing was fine, and there was some fairly nice scenery on the south island when we were coming through the waterway that led to Picton.

The drive down to Christchurch was nice - you can tell you're in Lord of the Rings country, and you half expect to round the next bend in the road and see a group of orcs running across the hills. The road down to Christchurch goes along the coast for a long way, and the sun was shining so it was a pleasure to drive.

The internet connection here is pants, so I can't upload photos and it's really slow. Amanda and Robbie are arriving soon and then I'm going out for a drink with them. Tomorrow my tour of the South Island starts at 8am so I won't be able to find anywhere to upload pictures until tomorrow evening at the earliest.
