Delhi photos

Lots of photos taken today, so I'm going to only upload a selection of the better ones. We went on a city tour today - guide was crap, but at least mum had been here before and we had a guide book to fill in where the tour guide was lacking - ie everywhere.

I will try and remember the various bits of info associated with the photos, so here they are.
Enjoy:

This is in the Red Fort - a massive complex in the middle of Old Delhi which is still in use as a military base. A small section is open to the public and this is one of the buildings within. See the inlaid marble pattern-work

A close up of some of the inlay

Some kind of parakeet

Some temples/shrines

The largest mosque (I forget whether just in India, or in the world...pretty big anyway)

A rival King's tomb - he definitely got the cheap seats...

Shop stalls along the road

Some fairly new temple that looks like a rip off of the Sydney Opera House

An Indian Squirrel - looks more like a chipmunk if you ask me...

The Iron Pillar - liberated in some war and brought back to Delhi as a trophy. It's been rust-free for quite a few centuries...
