Killing time
I'm just killing another 15 minutes here before I meet some people here in El Calafate. I thought I'd mention before I forgot that I had conger eel for dinner one night at Explora.
It's actually nothing like other eel (which you may have had as sushi etc), and it actually resembles cod in texture, and is slightly more flavourful. Very nice all in all.
I just had a huge dinner here, and despite not needing it at all I had some desert. There is a saying here in Patagonia, that if you eat the berry of the El Calafate bush then you will return to Patagonia. Unfortunately there were none out yet in Torres del Paine, but I spotted a pancake with Calafate jam on the menu, so I had that.
While the rest of the meal was great, the pancake was a little plobby, so I don't think I'll be returning to Patagonia for the pancake! The jam was very tasty, so I think that counts enough for me to make a return trip.
